The real test format

Practice the way you’ll be tested

  • 3answer choices per question, like the real CDL knowledge test (49 CFR 383.133)
  • 50 · 80%questions on the real test · score you need (40 right)
  • 550+original Class A questions, each with its source
  • 30%of General Knowledge attempts passed in Indiana in 2025

Heads up: a growing list of states now give the CDL knowledge test in English only — including Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Minnesota, Oregon and Utah. A federal English-only rule was sent for review in June 2026 but is not in effect, so other states (for example New York, New Jersey and California) still offer Spanish. We don’t pretend the test is in Spanish everywhere — we help you pass it in English, with every answer explained in Spanish. Check your state’s rule in your student area.

What is the minimum tread depth for the front (steering) tires of a truck or tractor?

  1. 2/32 inch
  2. 4/32 inch
  3. 6/32 inch

Answer: B — 4/32 inch

Front (steering) tires need at least 4/32 inch in every major tread groove. All other tires need at least 2/32 inch.

  • Listen

Every question and every answer is read out loud in clear American English. Slow mode for hard words.

  • Understand

After each answer: why it’s right, in Spanish or English, the key words translated, and the federal rule it comes from.

  • Train like test day

Timed mock exams in your state’s format. A clear Ready / Not ready score tells you when to book your test.

Why good drivers fail the written test

  • The English is tricky

Two answers look right. Only one is. One word like “except” or “not” changes everything.

With us: every question read out loud and the key words translated, so “except” and “not” never trick you again.

  • The practice doesn’t match

100% on an app, then a fail at the office: many practice tests don’t follow the real format or the real topics.

With us: 3 choices, 50 questions, 80% to pass, timed — the same format as test day.

  • Nobody explains why

Memorizing letters doesn’t work. Understanding the rule — in your own language — does.

With us: after every answer, the rule explained in Spanish, with its federal source.

Questions

Is the CDL test in Spanish?

It depends on your state. Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Minnesota, Oregon, Utah and several others give it in English only. Others, like New York, New Jersey and California, still offer Spanish. A federal English-only rule was sent for review in June 2026 but is not in effect. That’s why every question here is in English, read out loud, with the explanation in Spanish — and, like the real test, each question has 3 answer choices.

Are these the real DMV questions?

No. Nobody can legally sell the real test questions. Ours are 100% original, written from public federal rules (49 CFR) on the same topics, and each one shows its source.

Is Pixlico official?

No. It’s an independent study tool, not affiliated with any DMV, state agency or FMCSA. You take the official test at your state’s licensing office.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once. Nothing renews, nothing to cancel.

How long do I have access?

60 days for the Class A prep — most students are ready in 2 to 3 weeks. The all-endorsements upgrade is lifetime access.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Add it to your home screen from the browser: questions and audio keep working with no signal.

Can I listen while I drive?

Audio mode plays like a podcast. Start it before you drive and never touch your phone while driving.

How does the guarantee work?

Finish 3 full mock exams. If you still fail the official test, email us your result within 30 days and get 100% back in 5 business days.

Full guarantee terms
English is hard for me. Can I still pass?

Yes, that is exactly who we built this for. You hear every question in clear English, slow mode if needed, see the key words translated, and read why the answer is right in Spanish. You learn the English words the test really uses.

Does this replace ELDT training?

No. Pixlico prepares you for the written knowledge tests. Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider on the FMCSA registry is still required before your first Class A skills test (and before the Hazmat test).
